ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have always had a profound love of nature. I just love to be outdoors, whether I’m riding a bike, taking a walk, skiing, or in a canoe. And it doesn’t matter how bad the weather is, I can handle the cold, the rain or the heat. And the bugs don’t bother me. Just let me be outside!

For the past 10 years, I dabbled in photography. But two years ago, I took a macro class, and that changed everything. It opened up a whole new world for me. I noticed things about flowers, bugs and bird close-ups that were just astounding.

For instance, If you take a closeup of a damselfly, and the light hits it just right, you can see its detailed shadow on a leaf! Click here for larger view and ordering information!

Or if you have the right settings, and you see a frog climbing out of the water on a sunny day, you can see his golden eye reflected in the water beneath him. Click here for larger view and ordering information!

At the beginning of spring, I had a lot of fun observing a squirrel in the middle of mating season. He was absolutely crazy! He posed as a pole dancer and a cross country skier in a matter of seconds. Click here for larger view and ordering information!

My heart was blessed and touched by all these wonderful discoveries. I started spending weekends at Crabtree Nature Center in Palatine, Illinois or at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois. This is where the majority of my pictures have been taken.

I could barely wait for the weekend to come so I could go out on a photo shoot. My work week was just there to support my hobby! And some of my photographs inspired me to write poetry, something I hadn’t done since college. All of these things made me so very happy. As time went by, it became clear to me that I wanted to be a nature photographer full time. So, that’s what I’m doing, I’m following my dream.

As I add to this website, you will see greeting cards with my own written messages, posters, and a book of poems to go with my pictures.
